Love it

Author's Response:

This was written to honor my father, who served in WWII and Vietnam, along with all the others who served our country.  So, I am very proud that you enjoyed this story.  Thank you so much for commenting.  Huge hugs, Grammy

What a wonderful amazing story.  Once I started reading, I just could't stop.  I loved the soldier named Cowlip, great idea.  As good as the story was, my favorite chapter was the last one.  Seeing Brian & Justin as elderly men still so much in love was perfect.  You are so talented and I enjoy your stories more & more as I read them.  Keep writing & I will keep reading.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts with the readers.

Author's Response:

Oh Mamab, you are the first person to mention my use of the name Cowlip for the soldier.  I'm sure others noticed, but it was fun to hear it mentioned.  I definitely had my tongue-in-cheek with that one.  LOL!

I've written a couple of short stories that portrayed Brian and Justin in their later years together.  This, of course, is my favorite one.  I know some elderly gay couples who have been together for decades, and their love for each other is just as strong as it was when they first fell in love.  I couldn't imagine Brian and Justin any other way.

Your comments have been so kind, and I've enjoyed every one of them.  Knowing that you have gotten pleasure from reading my work is the greatest reward, so thank you again for taking time to let me know how you feel.  Warmest hugs, Grammy

I've always loved this story. It made me think of a friend of mine who is gay and was dishonorably discharged because of it. Very recently his discharge was changed to honorable. Now at least he can get the services that he has been denied for almost 50 years. When he called me and told me I read this story again. Thank you for this wonderful story.

Author's Response:

This means the world to me, Lorie.  As you know, this story is very personal to me.  Although I didn't have any relatives or loved ones (that I know of) who were both gay and in the military, it always angered me at the way our Country treated their gay military members.  I'm so glad your friend FINALLY received what he so richly deserved.  Bless him.  Warmest hugs, Grammy
