4 years since I last returned to this very loved story and series. Just what I needed to pick me up while I'm stuck at home battling illness. Although I probably should be resting not reading at 11.30pm, I am still heading off to Part 2. Love this.

Now that Biden has announced the US is pulling out of Afghanistan for good, I would love to see a sequel to this series with Justin's thoughts on leaving that area of conflict. Pretty please? TAG

I loved this series. Such wonderful stories. I love AU stories about Brian and Justin meeting in different ways or their lives being different. This was very touching. Great job

Hey! I just read this. And on Fanfiction.Net, no less. I've gotten in the habit of pulling up goggle and typing in, 'QAF fanfiction... and then a simple plot of a story I would like to read'. Anyway, this story came up. So I read it, and then looked at the author to see if they had any other stories I might be interested in, because I was totally enamoured with this authors writing ability. Low and behold, you were the author. So I came back over to KD to leave you a review.
Your writing is so breathtaking in places. So descriptive. Gold trimmed blue trousers tucked tightly into spit shined combat style boots and hugging that phenomenal ass; black belt cinched perfectly around that narrow waist; starched and creased white shirt adorned with more ribbon and flash than Liberty Avenue during Pride week. There's others I could quote, but with this one, I could perfectly picture Justin in his uniform.
Michael... the ever nasty piece of shit. I wish he'd saved the comment he said in Woody's, to when he was sitting at Debbie's dining room table. He would have deserved the berating he would have gotten from Carl (or any others that chose to speak up.) Maybe a hard slap on the head from Debbie. At least Daphne and Brian let him have it. And I believe he went down quite a few pegs in Brian's eyes.
And the ending. SUPERB! "I am Cpt. Justin Craig Taylor, U. S. Army, Alpha Co., 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group. And I fucking love you." It brings tears to my eyes just rewriting that. I'm so happy I found this story. And what an added bonus coming to KD to review, as I found two sequels! Will have to stop now and get some sleep. It's after five in the morning. I took a nap early evening, and then couldn't get to sleep when I was suppose to. So I've been reading all night. I'll read the other two tomorrow.
Thank you for sharing your magnificent writing with us readers.
XOXO ~ Cathy
Author's Response:
I'm so happy you found me there! And then came here for the sequels. LOL. This was the first story I actually "finished" when I began writing fiction. I was writing Alterations at the time and needed a mental health break from all that super angst. I'm planning on writing another sequel eventually - 'cuz I love Col. Trent sooooo much and have to bring him back somehow. 😉
Thanks you for your wonderful comments and I'm trying - *trying* - to do better answering my reviews. I'm such a failure at that. Enjoy the sequels.

Love this. It brings up the importance of being able to acknowledge who you are and not having to hide. This is what could have been and is a fine damn story.

Wonderful story!
Mickael is a pain in the ass; even if that's not new, it feels good to say it.
Daphne is, as always, straight forward; I love her interactions with Brian. She's the exception in the straight population that Brian actually appreciates.

"It was only ever you." My heart was melting at this point. This is a great story and the ending is just perfect.

eek is right...no there is no NCIS Col. Trent - I meant QAF of course, have to stop reading both 'verses on the same day...lol
so sorry to scare you like that - your character is the one I love!
Charle
Author's Response:
Ahhhh... whew! Thought maybe I was sleep reading NCIS! LOL...
Glad you like him. He's a good good guy and wholly aware of the strain his own career has placed on his family. It's a harsh life in the military, from both sides.
And I'm SO glad Col. Trent is one of your faves!
