Michael is acting like such a baby! He honestly believes that he is still in competition with Justin. He is acting more like a drop-in Dad then Brian ever could, it is not surprising he is acting jealous and spiteful he always did that when no one was paying attention to him. Nice to see Deb not playing his game anymore the apron strings had to be cut sooner or later.
The girls are finally acting like adults and they are coming to realize that their actions do have consequences for Gus and Jenny Rebecca.
Glad Brian is refusing to play along with Michael the time has come for everyone to stop coddling Michael he is a grown man who should be more concerned about his daughter then himself.
Author's Response:
I think if the kids weren't involved he would try to help. The next chapter is going to test everyone's patients. Thanks for the review.

Love how fast you post. This story is one of the highlights of my day. Why is it Ben was the one that met them at the airport? If Mikey isn't going to make an effort just why is he even in the picture at all?
Author's Response:
Mikey is doing something stupid that is all i am going to say. Thanks for reading.

So glad to see another chapter!! And I'm glad that Mel agreed to move to the caretaker's cottage. It was a really good decision for all involved.
Michael is- as ALWAYS- a selfish prick. He can't see to his daughter's need for fun and normalcy because he is so damn worried about his own. I'm glad that Ben said what he said to Michael about the camping trip and hopefully he and his sour self will STAY HOME! SMH... I'm also glad that Carl stood up to the whiny brat and for once, Deb did not automatically take Michael's side. That was certainly a refreshing change!
Looking forward to MORE! Happy Writing and HUGS,
~Nichelle
Author's Response:
Carl to me is practical and Deb erratic they work he keeps her in line. Michael isn't getting his need to be right(I think that we saw that with Linds and Mel) met. I alway thought when Michael is acting like an ass everyone on the show was Oh poor Michael, Brian did it it was Asshole. thanks for reading

*snerk* Sugar Daddy!
I cannot believe Michael... such a jerk! But happy for the girls... that was always their problem, they yelled instead of communicated. Love this fic, hon!
Author's Response:
I tried so hard to not do this but Mikey is aways whining in my head. Thanks for reading.

First....*eyebrow still raised* at Michael... perhaps there is hope for him but I retain my right to be wholly and unequivocably skeptical. If he finds out that Mel and Lindz are thinking of moving back to the Pitts, I'm sure his selfish and invasive streak will rear its ugly head.
Speaking of which, I think Brian's idea of the carriage house is a splendid idea. Hopefully Mel will go for it! It is the best of both worlds and it would be nothing to invoke the same rules Brian has of not arriving without a courtesy call first. Hopefully the property is gated and requires a security code (for Debbie and Michael might I also suggest an electrified fence and spiked bobwire as well) to gain entry. Again, I wholeheartedly AGREE with Mel about not being so close to the Novotnys. Being involved in Jenny's life to a certain degree is one thing, but constantly butting in where they are not invited is another!
I laughed out loud at Brian's description of Mel and Justin. And I could really feel his relief at the change in Lindsay's conversation. Therapy really seems to be helping her and for Brian's sake, I hope it continues!
Happy Writing and HUGS,
~Nichelle
Author's Response:
I think people just showing up at my house to throw a party would have been the last straw.

Sanctimonious much, Michael?? The girls aren't entitled to a free pass? WTH! I'm still amazed by that statement since all it seems that he has ever gotten was free passes for being an idiot. But I digress... Oh but WAIT!! Then after his speech about needing to take care of JR and his 'rights' as her father, he forgets his kid? Sounds like she would be better off with Michael MYERS as her father than Michael Novotny, at least the former would remember that his daughter existed.. even if it's not in the very best of ways ...SMH Definition of a drop in dad, anyone? Anyone? There is an answer and it's Michael Novotny!
It's nice to see Mel and Lindsay FINALLY listening to each other. Perhaps therapy will make a huge impact on how they deal with their issues going forward. Mel is now starting to see that her insecurities and jealousy can NOT be laid at Brian's door. I hope their upward mobility continues. Lindsay was right in that they moved away but still took their unresolved issues with them.
I don't blame Mel one damn bit for not wanting to live near the Novotnys. They really are nosy and interferring beyond measure; act as if it is their right to know everything about everyone's lives whether it has to do with them or NOT. Hopefully they can find an area that's close enough to the Pitts but far away enough for their privacy. It's better for them to have the support system around and not need it rather than be in the position they now find themselves in where they need it and don't have it.
Great Chapter!! On to the next!
Happy Writing and HUGS,
~Nichelle

To say that I wanted to smack Michael would be an understatement! I was thinking more along the lines of a FIST doused in some HOLY water to exorcise that demon of SELFISHNESS!! Michael is truly like a robot programmed and wound up to walk around talking about "What about me? What about me? What about ME?!" I STILL marvel at Brian being called narcissistic when in Michael's world, it's ALL about Michael! Perhaps Deb is FINALLY getting the clue that the rest of the family has had long since. I wonder if Ben will actually make any progress with his...husband.
On to the next chapter!!
Happy Writing and HUGS,
~Nichelle

OMG! He actually forgot JR? And he talks abut thinking about her needs? The only thing he's thinking about is himself.

Good to read the girls are going much better.
It would be nice if they agreed to live in the house near Britin.
I loved "Dad told her to find her own boyfriend. She turned red and ran to Justin."
Author's Response:
I love to do the kids. Thanks for the review.

Mel's starting to realize that Brian isn't the bad guy. Love the idea about the caretaker's house. It's even bigger than their old house in the pits!
Author's Response:
I think that if she didn't learn than what is the point.

Love this story.

Thank you to you too.

Can't wait to see how Ted's talk with Michael goes. I'm still confused as to why Michael thinks everything needs to be run by him first. He doesn't go out of his way to spend time with his daughter and if he did he wouldn't call Brian and tell him and offer for Gus to go with them. He has two sets of standards. If it weren't for JR Ben would have given up on Mikey long ago.
Author's Response:
Michael is going to get better for a chapter
Date: Jul 09, 2016 10:11 am Title: Chapter 9
So how does one forget their child? Michael really needs to get a clue and fast. I truly hope he does not try to sue for custody....he won't win and it would hurt JR more than he knows.
And yes Lindsay asked the same question I always have....because Lindsay cheated with a man did that makes her indiscretion worse? Melanie never saw her little fling with Maryann as being as hurtful in comparison, but it was. Mel even chose to leave at that time not really taking Gus into consideration all the while she berated Brian who in fact was still around for him. Maybe the journals they are keeping will finally allow them to put things into perspective.
I won't get too much on my soapbox here LOL, keep up the good work.
Author's Response:
You'd be surprised. I worked in a grocery store and a kids dad left him. He came back before he left the parking lot. Get on any soup box you want, I think it's great that everybody feels strongly. Thank- you for sticking it out with me.

Yes, indeed, he needs to do a lot of thinking this week-end, if he finds time between the comics and the movies.
What a nightmare of a father/husband/friend!!
Author's Response:
Michael character was always someone who had a hard time with change to me. Thanks for reading.
Date: Jul 09, 2016 6:03 am Title: Chapter 8
Thank you for the quick update, and with 2 chapters!
I liked how you describes Deb/others:
"Deb believes mothers nurture like she does. She smoothers but she means well. I think with Michael, it was just the two of them, so she overcompensated and you have whiney Michael. The rest of us aren’t her kids, she helped us, was there when you needed her, but let us learn to solve our own problems. With Michael it was everyone doing for him."
Author's Response:
Thank you for reading.
Date: Jul 09, 2016 3:27 am Title: Chapter 1
This makes so much sense, and perhaps should have been addressed in the show. Good first chapter, I'm really enjoying it.
Author's Response:
It makes it easier to find something to write about for me. Thanks for reading and enjoy.
Date: Jul 09, 2016 2:18 am Title: Chapter 7
I love how Ben, Justin and Brian put the kids first. Mikey's not to that point yet. Hopefully the girls figure out how to be better friends to each other and don't try to fight Brian on the custody matter.
Author's Response:
Mikey is on his way to seeing that he need to be a better father. In chapter 9 at the very end he finally gets a clue.
Date: Jul 09, 2016 2:06 am Title: Chapter 6
Gus is such a smart kid. I love how you show that emotional abuse is just as bad as physical violence. Poor Mikey. He's not able to think further then what he wants. Unfortunately he needs caring almost as much as the kids. I love Ben, he always makes a point but in a nice way.
Author's Response:
I was lucky i grew up in a normal very boring home. But i had a friend who didn't. so i took the behaviors she discribed and put them in here.
Date: Jul 08, 2016 10:45 pm Title: Chapter 7
I hope the girls can keep themselves in check.
Author's Response:
Me too. thanks for reading,
Date: Jul 08, 2016 10:36 pm Title: Chapter 7
It's kinda funny for Michael to think of Jenny as spoiled.... Who else pouts when they don't get their way? Who else whines and complains or shirks their responsibilities when things are not going right in their little world? Ding...Ding...DING!! That would be Michael Novotny! Nichelle, you get a door prize...LOL Thank goodness Jenny has Brian, Ben, Justin and Gus because I fear what her life would become if she was left ONLY with Michael!
I hope that Mel will finally get a clue as to what she has been doing to Gus. What Lindsay projects within the scope of their relationship is NOT Brian's fault or responsibility. Personally I hope they split up for good; it may make them better parents. I've never been one to advocate for people who stay together for the sake of the children. When those kids are grown, what is there to hold on to except bitter feelings and unneeded resentments? Better that they get off the sinking relation-ship now, than not even have a friendship worth saving and the kids be hurt later.
Brian had it right... Gus' ONLY job is to be a kid. Nevermind what the stupid adults do...LOL Thanks for the amazing chapters today. Enjoy your weekend!
Happy Writing and HUGS,
~Nichelle
Author's Response:
I with you. i wanted to be kinder to Michael it's hard. You won't believe how hard it is. In my head Michael had good points but not enough. I have thought about writing a fic with only Michael's POV at how he sees the world but it scares me. I have 2 chapters done. I really need to get a life. My husband just laughs at me.
Date: Jul 08, 2016 9:37 pm Title: Chapter 7
BRILLIANT! And once again two chapters. Loved it.
Michael just might surprised us and come around...who knows. Stranger things have happened. Ben is a dream. Gotta love him. knowing just what Jr would want to do.
Curious as to how this meeting will go with the girls. Could go any of several ways. Really looking forward to you dealing with it. I know Mel is recognizing her need to change regarding Brian, but I'm thinking it may take awhile.
Thanks for the treat!!
Cheers.
Elaine
Author's Response:
When they come back from beta you get two more. I hope i don't kill the beta. Thanks for all the encouragement,

Yep, Michael is really a big dumb idiot.
Poor little girl: at least, she could work for Brian if she becomes as good as Justin.
I hope the visit to the "moms" will go smoothly for Gus.
Thank you for the quick update!
Happy week-end!
Author's Response:
thank you for reading and the visit is going to all over the place.
Date: Jul 08, 2016 8:36 pm Title: Chapter 6
Poor Gus and poor Brian; huge weight on their shoulders. I hope that Justin will be able to put some off.
As for Jenny Rebecca, fortunately she has Ben, Brian and Justin by her side because her father has no damn clue at all, as usual, but this is worse because he considers her being a brat when she tries to express herself. What a dumb idiot (I know it's duplicative, but I can't help it).
Author's Response:
I like funny but there has to be a little sad to this. Thanks for reading.
Date: Jul 08, 2016 4:34 pm Title: Chapter 5
Mel, Lindsay and Michael all NEED to get a damn grip. I'm glad that you are addressing the whole cheating issue with the two chicks. It's funny that all 'cheating' in the series occured from the same origin...NON-COMMUNICATION! People always say that one should be careful of the things they say but it is being proven that the things that AREN'T said are the most dangerous.
As for Michael.... he really is a jealous idiot. As always, he has no idea what he is talking about in regards to Justin and Gus. I can't wait for Brian and/or Justin to put him in his place. I always marvel that the 'family' called Brian narcissistic and Peter Pan when in reality it was Michael who was selfish and never wanted to grow the hell up. If one thinks about it, Brian was more of a grown up at 14 than Michael ever was at 30. He worked hard for everything he got and never expected folks to do for him. I think that's why I identify with Brian's character the most... But I digress and that's just my opinion.
I'm looking forward to MORE of this. Hopefully Jenny will give Michael a reality check that will benefit HER in the long run!
happy Writing and HUGS,
~Nichelle
Author's Response:
I realized that a lot of people see things the way i do. It has become a scarry world. LOL
Date: Jul 08, 2016 3:44 pm Title: Chapter 1
I can't wait to read more of this story.
I like how you give everyone's POV and that you put Justin in this important role in the kids' lives.
He is almost still a "kid" himself for some things but very mature for some other.
So, he is the best link between the kids and the "family".
It's cute that Jenny is "in love" with him. It might be a problem with Michael as he is always jealous of Justin and maybe with Mel as well.
Author's Response:
i am actually having a hard time not writing when i start. so enjoy it.
