OH HOLY HELL! YOU DIDN'T!
Yes, boys and girls, she did... evil writer.
Now, my suspicions of earlier, regarding who could possibly be behind this... hmm, I might have to rethink this, because are they smart enough to devise this? But, then again, it has to be someone who has to know kids and school schedules... wow... you have woven some the plot.
BUT... was the janitor REALLY an employee of the museum, or the kidnapper/one of the kidnappers... setting the plan into motion? Do the police still have the janitor in their line of vision, or did they disappear in the commotion?
Why do I think Justin ISN'T going to make it back to school on time for his ride with Craig? Which maybe isn't so bad... he'll avoid Hobbs and cronies, and Daddy might kick him out of the house, so he'll have no choice but to have to move in with Brian.

Wow, this was a great chapter. Just knew it would't go smoothly. Never does for our boys. Wonderful writing. Loved the pics.

Okay so this seldom used connection filled with anger and pain, sounds more like Brians Bio family. Maybe Claire is the kidnapper? And the other person we are hearing is her mother. Neither would care about the welfare of a child and would love to get more money from Brian. I think the Kinney kitchen was kind of old fashioned in that episode where Brain picks up his mother to take her to church.
Thanks for confusing us more (rampant sarcasm!).

Does Brian recognize the kitchen? I hope it brings them closer to finding Gus. Brian might have to kidnap Justin in order to find his son.

It could be Joan's kitchen; the "Sweet Lord Almighty" and "brat" could be clues pointing to that direction; it could be why Brian reacted so much.
As for Debbie's kitchen: the walls were green/olive and the rest was beige/maroon, way more cluttered than the one in the picture.
So glad that Justin found a way to get Daphne on board to reach Brian.

Well, if you are trying to lead us to this being Debbie's kitchen, you have the wrong pic... LOL...
Debbie did have the harvest gold appliances, but her table top was black, or a very dark brown. And her chair backs were padded, kind of a cream, with black swirls, not wood slats. (sorry for being a party-pooper.) LOL...
But, was Brian's reaction from the state his son was in, or did he recognize the kitchen? Or both?
I loved how Daphne and Justin could code-talk, and Jennifer not be any the wiser. I'm glad Brian at least opened himself up for that short time.
Do we need to worry about Hobbs? Hopefully, Justin's skills will be enough to forewarn him of any danger Hobbs might impose.

We are getting closer. maybe Brian recognized the kitchen not sure it was Deb's maybe Joan's? You write beautiful lines instead of studying LOL

Wow, great powerful chapter. What an ugly kitchen. Used to have the olive green appliances which were a slight bit better, but not much. Can't remember Deb's kitchen colors. Fantastic writing.

Studying is definitely over-hyped, LOL!
I think my instincts have been pretty much leading to this house and this kidnapper(s). And Deb definitely didn't have orange appliances... brown I think!
I think it's hysterical that even through this deep connection, Justin can comment about the 70's hurting his artistic sensiblities, LOL!

Another great chapter! I always did love a bratty, snarky Justin.
But perhaps my favorite line was in the notes...
*Inspired author dancing away to write more!*

Justin is a cheeky monkey and now, he has both Hobbs and his father against him, as well as Hobbs' croonies.
As for the sketchpad, I hope that there is one of the hoodie Justin saw previously and that it will give Brian a hint. I also hope that he will sue Caig for slander about the pedophile thing or at least threaten him to do so. Pittsburgh might not be a great place to try getting justice on such grounds in 2001.
Date: Jan 14, 2020 1:20 pm Title: Chapter 15 - Brian’s Coming To Get Me
I saw the title: Brian’s Coming To Get Me... and I was HOPING that Justin had had enough of bigoted Craig, had come downstairs with his bags packed, and upon asking where he was going, said, "Brian’s coming to get me." ... Oh, well... a girl can hope. It was a good scenario for the title, don't you think?
So, the Hobbs fiasco took place again, but this time on school grounds. Maybe that will work for Justin's advantage. The entire school body will be aware of it, hopefully, this will provide Justin with a modicum of protection. The few cronies can't take on the entire school. The teachers will know now, too.
How does Craig know Justin slept with Brian last fall? And, anyways, isn't the age of consent 16? And does Craig really want that info making its way through the country club and church?
I'm glad Brian ended up with the sketchpad... can we hope that Brian might recognize something in one of the sketches? A place, an object?
So, Craig has a business meeting tonight. Taylor Electronics business... or the business of getting down and dirty with a young female? (I'm evil... I know.) Maybe Justin can discover the truth, and have something to give the screws to ole dad.
I'm glad the author is inspired, because we need those fingers to type out a quick resolution to Gus' predicament.

I'm picturing this scene in my mind. I'd like to see fuming Craig fighting with Brian for the sketchbook. I love the chapter and as always wait patiently for another one.

Whoever has Gus knows Brian, but not as well as he think he does. How will Justin be able to help.

I'm actually VERY surprised Brian didn't do more to stop Justin getting in Craig's car. He intervened when Craig was squeezing Justin's arm, yet when Craig was belittling him and telling him 'house rules', calling him names, Brian stood aside, saying nothing, allowing Justin to go that home. If Craig implored verbal abuse in front of everyone... what's he going to be like in the privacy of their home? Nope, I don't buy Brian willingly letting him go with a man showing those abusive tendencies. Brian knows all too well, how fathers that demand 'respect' and how their word is law in their home, are!
Now the 'vision' of little Gus again... Did Brian see it too? All we can hope is that he did, and come racing up to take Justin out of that house, and into his own home, so they can work together to save Gus.
Either that, or will Justin defy everything, and leave on his own?

Author's Response:
The difference between this story and the series is that here Brian and Justin didn't have several weeks/months of a building relationship before the confrontation with Craig. Here, they each went their separate ways after that first night. So Brian isn't quite as invested in protecting Justin yet... expect that to change soon, tho. 😉 TAG
