I agree, Deb is out there among the stars, shining bright, just like she always did.
Author's Response:
I really liked that image...glad you did too! :)

Wonderful update. Death is so hard to deal with even though we all go thru it at some time, you gave them the little time away from the sorrow so well. Great writing. If you celebrate, Happy Easter.
Author's Response:
Thank you! <3 It is very difficult to deal with, especially when someone meant a lot to you, maybe more than you realized (which is what is going on with Brian here). Happy Easter to you too!

Rob ad Adam showing up with the girls was just the distraction they needed. It seem to work for a while. Besides, their bodies were telling them too that they needed a break.
Deb, out there among the stars. Fitting.
Author's Response:
I thought it was really fitting, too. <3 They needed the support of their friends, and of course the innocence of children is never a bad thing!

Sometimes you just need your mother or mother-in-law.
Author's Response:
Yes, sometimes you do! <3 Jen certainly loves her boys and wants to take care of them!
Date: Apr 18, 2019 8:42 pm Title: Chapter 6
Much better. Not as much sorrow, but I know it is coming. Fantastic writing.
Author's Response:
Indeed, we're only halfway there...and we aren't yet to the parts that I cried while writing. ;)
Date: Apr 18, 2019 7:54 pm Title: Chapter 6
True, Justin & Brian will face it together while taking care of each-other. Nice, relaxing chapter. Love Jennifer is their.
Author's Response:
Thanks - this sort of felt like the chapter where nothing much happens, but Justin needed to grieve, and they both needed Jennifer to take care of them. :) I'm glad you liked it!
Date: Apr 18, 2019 2:29 pm Title: Chapter 6
Brian did a lot now it's time for him to nap and Justin to take care of him. Wonderful suggestion to open the diner.
Author's Response:
Thanks, that was Sandi's idea -- I loved it too! :)
Date: Apr 16, 2019 12:10 am Title: Chapter 5
Taking care of someone when you need taking care of yourself is hard.
Author's Response:
Oh yes, definitely! It's a difficult things to balance. But Justin is going to try his best.
Date: Apr 15, 2019 6:42 pm Title: Chapter 5
Justin's at a loss. Brian's feeling lost. But he cried. Couldn't hold it in any longer. Cathartic for them both.
Brian is aware of Justin's discomfort. I'm glad he took the time to make sure Justin is taken care of. He loves him.
Author's Response:
They both love each other so deeply...one benefit to writing in this verse is having their 11 years of marriage underlying all of their actions with one another. They know each other so much more intimately now.

Oh no, please no more accidents. I don't think I can handle another one. Great chapter and of course, wonderful writing.
Author's Response:
No accidents! He's good. :)

This story is so beautifully written. I'm hanging on every word. Thanks again for sharing this.
Hugs,
Jessica
Author's Response:
Thank you so much <3 It makes me so happy to read that people are enjoying it!
Date: Apr 13, 2019 3:22 pm Title: Chapter 4
Sad that Brian had to be the one to bolster Mikey much to his own detriment.
Author's Response:
Brian just wants to ensure Michael is okay...Michael is his brother. And Brian wants to pretend he doesn't have feelings...
Date: Apr 13, 2019 1:57 pm Title: Chapter 4
What a powerful chapter. Could just picture everyone going through their own personal grief. Fantastic writing.
Author's Response:
Thank you <3 :)
Date: Apr 13, 2019 1:18 pm Title: Chapter 4
Justin better find some anger to direct at Brian to take better care of himself before he winds up back in the hospital with another infection. Mourning is one thing, but Deb wouldn't be at all happy with the gang if she could see them now.
She was such a vibrant woman that they should celebrate her life. She lived it to the fullest.
Author's Response:
Yes, she would want them to smile and remember her fondly...they'll get there, but they need to grieve first. Brian learned his lesson the last time, but he has a lot of distractions right now, unfortunately.

Kari
I didn't think you were going to continue the story but write one shots in the universe. So happy to see a continuation of the universe eventhough it is a sad situation. They are together and there for each other. Can't wait for more.
Author's Response:
This set out to be a one shot but then it got too long...so I divided it up. :)
Date: Apr 10, 2019 2:43 pm Title: Chapter 3
This must have been hard to write. But, you did an amazing job.
Author's Response:
Yes, this story was definitely challenging to put together, and it got more challenging as it went on...but I hope you guys will like how it turns out. <3

Who knew that getting a rental car could be so difficult. Now the really hard part begins.
Author's Response:
Yes, it can be -- some people have no trouble with bringing and using their own portable hand controls, while others get refused service, and technically the car rental companies can do it because it is their vehicle and the customer is installing equipment. And yes, once they get to Michael's...that's where things get much, much harder...
Date: Apr 10, 2019 1:15 pm Title: Chapter 3
A bit surprised Brian held in his feelings for as long as he did. Poor rental guy.
Yeah going to be a long difficult time ahead.
Author's Response:
Brian is pretty good at holding things in, especially when he doesn't want to be feeling them. And the car rental guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time...
Date: Apr 09, 2019 1:24 am Title: Chapter 2
Perfect look at how Brian felt and how Justin did his best to help.
Author's Response:
Thank you <3 Justin is a good partner to Brian. I love writing this version of them and their interaction with each other is a big part of why.
Date: Apr 07, 2019 4:24 pm Title: Chapter 2
Great update. At least Deb and Carl will now be together. We always feel guilt when someone dies just like Brian is. Should have called, should have visited, etc., but it doesn't change anything. Terrific writing.
Author's Response:
Thanks <3 And yes, I think it's a normal part of grief...maybe part of the bargaining stage, wishing you'd done things differently.
Date: Apr 07, 2019 3:21 pm Title: Chapter 2
Yeah I tried....I just can’t, I don’t do death fics very well. Maybe I’ll come back when it’s completed that way I can shore up my strength.
Author's Response:
I understand <3 thanks for trying!
Date: Apr 07, 2019 12:52 pm Title: Chapter 2
Brian always has a deep rooted guilt when something happens involving someone he loves. Not always a good thing.
It's going to take them a while to come to grips with all of this. I glad they have the house to go home to. Staying in a hotel at a time like this would only raise their anxiety levels and stress them out even more.
Author's Response:
Yes, having the house is a huge help! They have a rough road ahead of them, with a lot to work through.
Date: Apr 06, 2019 12:39 pm Title: Chapter 1
I'm hooked! It's so rare to see Brian break down. You wrote that beautifully. Can't wait for more.
Hugs,
Jessica
Author's Response:
Thank you! It's a tough thing to write but it is one of the advantages of keeping this story in this verse is that Brian is slightly more open, at least with Justin. I'm glad you liked it!
Date: Apr 05, 2019 1:32 pm Title: Chapter 1
Oh no. What a shock.
Author's Response:
Yes...certainly some unexpected news out of Pittsburgh. :(
Date: Apr 05, 2019 2:18 am Title: Chapter 1
How horrible. Brian lost the only loving mother he's ever had. Justin lost a second mother too.
Felt Justin's pain trying to decide what to do to get to Brian as fast as he could.
Time to go home.
Author's Response:
This is going to be a very tough, very emotional time for both of them, but especially for Brian.
