Ted was really young when Joshua died. A lot of those memories are not clear and are buried in the subconscious. His memories resurfaced when he heard his mother talk about it.
It's always great if your family supports your decisions.
Ted is learning to be a father, he'll be great at it eventually.

Not everyone is able to handle the reality of having a special needs child. And if they can't, it's better to let the child go so that it can be loved and cared for by someone willing to take on the responsibility than to have the child neglected and not encouraged to reach their full potential.
Ted will have the best character witnesses he can get.
They will be able to get the child before the adoption is final.

I was thinking that Ted and Blake will suggest that they adopt Heather's baby when she announced she was pregnant.
Now that the baby is born and maybe has the Down Syndrome, will they ask Heather?
I don't know if those babies/children need special care; if yes, they will have to make some major changes in their lives.

This story takes place before Bittersweet Promise and explains how Ted and Blake got the child they have in that story.
Some children with DS have a lot of health problems and some have very few, just like typical kids. When you have any child you do what is necessary for them to grow up happy and healthy.
